NICK MERRICK

Nick Merrick is co-founder and consulting partner of Hall+Merrick+McCaugherty. He gained notoriety as a long-time senior photographer and principal at the renowned photography studio Hedrich Blessing. Over his career, Nick has established long collaborative relationships with clients and takes great pride in becoming a part of their team. His work has ranged from photographing the world's tallest building, The Burj Khalifa in Dubai, to performance halls, research labs, corporate headquarters, hotels and residences worldwide.

Considered among the leading photographers in architecture and design, you can find his photography in the collections of the Library of Congress, the Chicago History Museum, the Art Institute of Chicago, and the George Eastman House as well as published in prestigious design journals and firm monographs. Nick is a highly respected instructor at the Santa Fe Workshops and holds an MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and a BFA from the University of Michigan. When not out on assignment, he lives with his wife Shaun in Galisteo, New Mexico in an adobe under the cottonwood trees next to the Arroyo de Los Angeles.

STEVE HALL

Steve Hall is one of the country's most respected architectural photographers. After earning a Bachelor of Science degree in geology from the University of Wisconsin, Steve joined Hedrich Blessing where he developed his reputation photographing a wide array of Chicago and National AIA award winning buildings and interiors. "My collaborative engagement with clients has allowed me to enjoy many rewarding, long standing relationships. I am fascinated with the built environment. The goal with each assignment is to understand and capture the essence of the building, and have an enjoyable day with the design team while making the photographs." Steve's work is included with the Hedrich Blessing Collection at the Chicago History Museum, and the Hedrich Blessing Signature Collection at the Library of Congress. In between assignments, Steve enjoys bicycling the back roads of southwest Michigan in anticipation of the 100 mile Apple Cider Century ride in the fall.

 

KENDALL McCAUGHERTY

Kendall McCaugherty graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Fine Art Photography from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in 2013. That same year, she joined Hedrich Blessing photographers as an apprentice and continued developing her craft at the renowned Chicago-based studio until its closing in 2017. Kendall joined her mentors Steve Hall and Nick Merrick upon the establishment of Hall+Merrick, becoming a photographer in 2018 and a principal in 2022. In a few short years, Kendall has become known for her impeccable photographic technique and vision, and is one of the most sought after architectural and design photographers with an award winning client base. Her work has been published in top industry periodicals such as Architectural Digest, Architectural Record, Interior Design, Metropolis and the Wall Street Journal.
